Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to friendr., operated by Friendr LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the “App”). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly: name, email address, username, date of birth, profile photos, biography, and interests you select.
Information collected automatically: device type and model, operating system version, IP address, App usage data, feature interaction logs, crash reports, and precise or approximate location data (only with your explicit permission).
Information from third-party sign-in providers: if you choose to sign in via Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email address) as authorized by you and consistent with your settings on those platforms.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: create and manage your account; enable you to connect with other users and join Hangouts and Crews; display your profile to other users as you have set; personalize your in-App experience; send push notifications, alerts, and updates with your consent; monitor, analyze, and improve App performance and features; detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, illegal activity, and Terms violations; enforce our Terms of Service; respond to your inquiries and support requests; and comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
With other users: profile information you make public is visible to other App users as intended by the platform’s social features.
With service providers: we share information with third-party vendors (such as Supabase for cloud infrastructure and database hosting) who provide services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the specified purpose.
For legal compliance and safety: we may disclose your information if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or government request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person (including in emergency situations involving imminent threat to life), prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, or protect our legal rights. We do not require a court order to share information with law enforcement in genuine emergency situations involving risk to life.
Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not share your personal information with advertising networks or allow third-party advertisers to collect your data through the App.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App’s features. You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required or permitted by law to retain certain information for a longer period (for example, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements).
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate personal information; delete your personal information; receive a portable copy of your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing of your personal information; and opt out of certain uses of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, email daniel@joinfriendr.com. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 days (or as required by applicable law). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
Right to Know: you may request that we disclose what personal information we collect, use, share, and sell about you.

Right to Correct: you may request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: we do not use sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to provide our services.
Global Privacy Control (GPC): we honor GPC browser and device signals as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing of personal information for the relevant user or browser.

9. Automated Decision-Making & Profiling
Friendr does not use automated decision-making or algorithmic profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on users. We do not use your personal data to automatically rank, score, or filter your visibility to other users, and we do not make automated decisions that affect your access to the platform. Any moderation actions that affect your account are reviewed by a human. 10. Minimum Age — 18+ Only
friendr. is strictly intended for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete all associated personal information without prior notice. If you have reason to believe that a minor has an account on our platform, please contact us immediately at daniel@joinfriendr.com.
11. Data Security
We implement and maintain industry-standard technical and organizational security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information, and we are not responsible for breaches that result from circumstances beyond our reasonable control. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
12. Push Notifications
We may send you push notifications with your prior consent, obtained through the App’s notification permission request. You may withdraw your consent and disable push notifications at any time by adjusting your device settings under Settings > Notifications > Friendr. Disabling notifications does not delete your account or affect your personal data.
13. Third-Party Services
The App uses certain third-party services to operate, including Supabase (backend database and infrastructure), Apple and Google (optional sign-in), and Expo (mobile development platform). These third parties have their own privacy policies governing their collection and use of your information. We encourage you to review their policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where required by applicable law, by providing additional notice via in-App notification or email. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
